The Langhe, as we know, offer dreamlike sceneries that every year amaze thousands of tourists, who come to the area to enjoy unique food and wine experiences while enjoying the breathtaking views that can be admired from every corner of the region.
Neive is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and in 2014 a large part of its hills were recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strolling through the village, it is inevitable to observe the beauty of this place, finely restored over the years so as to keep the typical Langa architecture intact. In the narrow streets of the centre, you will find restaurants, wine bars, small shops and charming hotels.
Borgo Vecchio, rooms of Charme, is a historic accommodation facility in the village located on the western slope of the hill, from which there is a splendid view of the Alpine chain, where Monviso stands out, and of the Barbaresco hills.
This 100-year-old building, located in the historic centre of the village, was renovated in 2015. The owner, Valter Casetta, wanted to create a facility inspired by the concept of the albergo diffuso, offering a food and wine experience, with typical local products and the possibility of staying in panoramic suites while enjoying the sensational view that frames the village.
We met Angelica, who takes care of hospitality at Borgo Vecchio, and does it very well. She opened the doors of the hotel to show us all the beauty and attention to detail that characterises the building.
You can stay in the 6 charming, finely furnished suites that offer a 180-degree view of the hills and the village of Barbaresco with its medieval tower. Among the various comforts available in the rooms such as air conditioning, smart TV, mini bar, you can request breakfast and dinner directly in your room, as well as book wellness treatments in your suite.
Angelica will offer you an efficient reception service by booking wine cellar tastings, transfers, dinners and much more.
In addition to the charming rooms, the hotel has an elegant restaurant, Donna Selvatica, inspired by the famous 'wild woman' found on Romano Levi's grappa labels.
The courses on the menu are the result of the owner's choice of quality local raw materials and chef Gabriele Piscitelli's ability to translate them into something tasting and 'beautiful to look at'. The panoramic terrace offers a breath-taking view of the hills in every season, and is the ideal place to share exclusive moments in an intimate and cosy setting.
Just a few steps away is the Osteria Borgo Vecchio, which is also part of the same estate.
The house in which the osteria is located was originally a dwelling: the small rooms recall its original purpose. It is a typical Piedmontese osteria characterised by a family service that will take you back in time, when a hot homemade dish won the hearts of travellers. It serves simple, typical Langa dishes with local ingredients.
At the end of our visit, we exchanged a few words with Angelica, thanking her for her hospitality and asking her a question: why should a tourist choose to stay in Borgo Vecchio?
Here is her answer:' A tourist should choose us because at Borgo Vecchio they would feel at home. We offer a warm and welcoming experience thanks to our high-quality services, positive and dynamic environment, and culinary excellence in a unique and inimitable setting. We spoil the tourist by focusing on his well-being, good food and good wine without forgetting the view
